Music8 accounts
How Music8 accounts work
One Music8 account can manage your own profile plus any organisations or clients you are authorised to manage.
People, organisations, accounts and products are kept conceptually separate, so it is always clear who is acting, for whom, and with what permission.
The five concepts
- Person
- A human being: a professional, member of staff, freelancer or volunteer.
- Organisation
- A choir, school, venue, agency, publisher, institution or other organisation.
- Music8 account
- One user login belonging to a person.
- Managed entity
- Any person or organisation that a user has permission to manage.
- Product or entitlement
- What has been purchased or granted, for example Individual Pro, Choir Pro, Pro Manager or Partner.
One account, several entities
A Music8 account belongs to a person. That person may hold a product of their own, and may also be authorised to manage organisations or clients. The account is the single point of access; permissions decide what it can reach.

Entities that have granted you access
Access is permission-based. Managing an entity does not automatically grant editorial publishing rights.
Roles and permissions
Each managed entity sets who may act for it and at what level. Roles are being rolled out across Music8 Console as the account system is introduced.
- Owner
- Holds ultimate responsibility for an entity, including billing and who else has access.
- Admin
- Manages settings, people and access within the entity, on the owner's behalf.
- Editor
- Prepares and maintains content and listings within the permissions granted.
- Manager
- Acts for a client or organisation externally, within explicitly granted permissions.
Editorial and promotional submissions always follow Music8 publishing controls, regardless of the role or product held.
